Design
I am fluent in user experience and design, from pen-on-paper to full sites and apps, using state of the art tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, PowerPoint and even Microsoft Word.
For individuals, creative and corporate clients, I design:
- Websites
- Brochures
- Postcards
- Posters
- Memes
- Displays
- Apps
- Storyboards
- Theatrical and movie production sets
I believe we live in a unique and powerful era of design where our tools allow us to create experiences tailored to meet unique circumstances and challenges as rapidly and competently as possible. Years of training in improvisation have honed my ability to create and work as part of a larger team in pursuit of shared goals.
Art
I’ve been making art since I was old enough to pick up a marker to draw giant balloon superhero muscles, drawing and sketching the world at large and the connections visible in the mind’s eye.
I believe in art there are no mistakes, only opportunities, sometimes hiding in plain sight. My father is an architect and I grew up surrounded by blueprints, renderings, models and measures. I practice realistic drawing and painting but enjoy shading in with complicated, intertwined forms, combinations not unlike Celtic knots combined with Art Deco laments, to reveal hidden connections between ourselves and the greater world.
My tools:
- iPad Pro
- Apple Pencil
- MacBook Air
- Airbrush
- Pen and ink
- Acrylic paint
- Pencil
- Wire
- Shrink film
- The kitchen sink (primarily cleanup)
My art has been featured in two solo shows in New York City, published in McSweeney’s and Daily Science Fiction and featured on stage in musicals and plays for children and grownups.
Education
I graduated cum laude from Miami University of Ohio after entering as a sophomore due to previously-earned credits.
Following graduation, I studied improvisation from Del Close, Martin de Maat, Stephen Colbert, Mick Napier and more.
I currently teach workshops on art, improvisational comedy and creativity.
Location
Once at home in New York City and Chicago, I now live in Lakewood, a suburb of Cleveland, OH, with my amazing wife, talented children and adequate pets and work remotely in New York City.
